Panther Tires win big at the 2013 Matt Gerald Benefit race!

This past weekend Revolution Raceway in Appleton, WI hosted a benefit race for one of our local racers, Matt Gerald. Matt was severely injured (broke his back) while racing his off-road buggy at the Red Bud MX track. Being a long time racer at the track, Revolution hosted a benefit to help him with his recovery.

There were three full heats of 4×4 SCT which included Matt Gerald himself! The top three guys were the same all day long. Panther Tires Jason Pietsch ended up qualifying 2nd going into the A-main.

A-Main:

Pietsch  started 2nd to Warren Young one of the area’s most consistent racers. Pietsch was able to take the lead on the first lap when Warren made a mistake and flipped over. Due to the pack of trucks behind them, Pietsch used the opportunity to put some space between Young and himself. Pietsch had established a pretty decent lead by the time, catching up to back markers and started just pacing them to try and not get taken out. Pietsch had nearly lapped Young at this point and chose to play it safe and dial it back a bit. During the final minutes of the race, the race director had announced that Matt Gerald was closing the gap quickly, so I decided to start pushing forward. Finishing with a 21/5:10, which was the only 21 lap 4×4 SCT run of the day.

LoGiudice takes Rd1 of the Michigan State Champs series!

This past Saturday was the first leg of the Michigan State Champs series.  Last year’s 2wd Mod SC Michigan State Champ Johnny LoGiudice was on a mission to make good on a promise, wishing his grandfather a happy 81st birthday telling him he was going to TQ and win the series opener in his honor. Being the only driver of the 2wd mod SC to do a 19 lap qualifier in 5:17 over second qualifier position who had a 17 5:01 best run taking the Tq by force. LoGiudice was half way done.

A rough start to the A-main Johnny was able to get past the carnage and nearly put 2nd place a lap down using Panther Rattler Sc’s in clay compound with the F800 SC foam insert.

Panther Tires dominate the Truck’n Tuesday series!

The KempCraft Truckin Tuesday series was a 12 round series with two drop rounds. The series was held between early January to 2nd last Tuesday in April 2013.

Panther Tires driver Darren Lord would dominate the 4wd SC class taking  10 TQ’s and 9 wins and a single 2nd place finish of the series. Lord regularly setting the fastest lap times each week. Early on in the series when the track was run quite moist the Panther Slick Sc’s in Clay compound were the tire of choice. As the series went on track conditions changed weekly. Lord would alternate between Panther Rattler Sc’s and Slick Sc’s depending on track conditions. Darren mounted his Panther Tires to DE Racing wheels. The combination proved lethal to the competition giving Lord the traction to win the series in dominating fashion.

New From Panther Tires, F800 Short Course closed cell foams!

New for 2013 Panther Tires is excited to release our latest product, the F800 Orange Closed Cell specifically for 1/10 Short Course tires. The new F800 SC foam has a new thicker outer sidewall shoulder providing increased support to the sidewall providing increased stability going in and out of the turns. This new insert is precision cut with contoured channels that allow more flex in the insert providing more stability, consistency and faster lap times. The channels are reduced near the sidewalls to keep the sidewall stability to provide more balanced turning. Coming in at a lean 10 grams each, these inserts will help reduce rotating mass on  your Short Course Truck. Foams are a major tuning option and should never be overlooked when trying to reach the fastest laps at the race track. (Pack of 4)

Panther Tires dicing it up front at RD2 of the JBRL Electric Series!

Ryan Dunford and Panther Tires score a hard fought second place this weekend at the JBRL race in San Diego.  The mains were 6 minutes long and all 6 of the minutes were used to battle back and forth between a number of drivers. Wyrick and Dunford would battle back and forth for the last few laps passing one another a couple of times each lap.  In the end of what was a fun race to watch, Wyrick  just edged out Ryan for the win. Dunford chose the Panther Switch 2.0 ST’s in clay compound front and rear for his TLR 22ST.

PRT Pilot on the box at the RC Pro Series North RD1!

With our Track seeing 8th scale electric numbers on the rise, Dillan Voelker jumped in the mix with his Panther Tire shod Kyosho MP9E TKI entering the PRO Electric 8th scale.  On Schedule was a full day of Practice on Friday and the track ran 4 qualifiers on Saturday.

With Jared Tebo in the mix it was sure to be an exciting weekend. Voelker put an extraordinary amount of energy and pre race prep into this car so he could benefit from the practice days without having to bother with car maintenance. After a long day of Qualifying, Voelker put himself in the 4th position overall and ready to get into the Main event Sunday.

Triple A mains came up on Sunday and Voelker went right to work. He put his MP9 on the track and started round one on Super Soft Rattler 2.0’s. After some heated mid pack chaos, Voelker finished round one with a 4th. He was one of only four drivers that could grab a 21 second lap. Round two had a similar outcome however we picked up some traction with a shock oil change in the rear and changing to the Super Soft Raptor running hard in this race but came out in 4th place again. As the track started to dry out more and more, his traction stayed super consistent and predictable on Panther Tires.

Tebo sat out round three in the main. Voelker was able to really put all of his skills together and rocked out a solid 2nd place in A3 to put him 3rd overall and a chance to share the podium with none other than Jared Tebo. 2nd place and track owner Danny Bartholomew and Voelker would finish out the podium in 3rd.
